Bengaluru-based electric three-wheeler manufacturer 3ev Industries and EV logistics platform 3eco Systems have announced plans to deploy AI-powered dash cameras from Cautio across more than 10,000 electric three-wheelers. According to the companies, the dashcam systems will be installed as a standard feature in vehicles produced by 3ev Industries.
Currently, around 1,200 electric three-wheelers equipped with these systems are already operating in Bengaluru and Chennai. The companies stated that over 10,000 vehicles across OEM and fleet platforms are committed under the initiative.
Factory-Level Installation of Safety Systems
Under the partnership, the AI dash cameras will be installed during the manufacturing stage of vehicles produced by 3ev Industries. The deployment aims to integrate safety monitoring technology into electric three-wheelers used in logistics operations.
The companies also stated that the partnership is intended to create a data and monitoring layer across electric vehicle fleets operating within logistics networks.
Technology and System Capabilities
The dashcam systems are developed by Cautio, an Indian video telematics company. The devices use edge computing technology to process data directly on the device rather than relying entirely on cloud connectivity.
According to the companies, the system monitors driver behaviour using computer vision technology. It can identify signs of driver fatigue, distraction or phone usage and provide real-time alerts.
The technology also includes Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features designed to detect potential collision risks and lane departures. Fleet operators can access trip and vehicle data through a centralised monitoring dashboard.
Evaluation and Selection Process
The companies stated that several global and domestic video telematics platforms were evaluated before selecting Cautio. The evaluation considered factors such as edge computing performance, reliability in high temperature and dusty environments, analytics capability and total cost of ownership. The selected system was designed to operate in urban road conditions with inconsistent mobile network connectivity.
Karan Kadaba, Director at 3ev Industries, said, “Following a detailed evaluation across global and domestic platforms, Cautio emerged as the right partner, combining technical capability with a deep understanding of Indian operating conditions. Other platforms required reliable 4G connectivity that simply does not exist across all our routes. This collaboration reflects our continued focus on building a safety-first operating framework for drivers, fleet partners, and passengers.
Joint Research and Training Initiatives
As part of the partnership, 3ev Industries, 3eco Systems and Cautio plan to conduct joint research and development activities related to vehicle safety technologies. The companies also plan to run driver training programmes and road safety awareness initiatives aimed at drivers operating electric three-wheelers in logistics fleets.
Suman Mishra, Director at 3eco Systems, said, “ Our objective was not just to add monitoring hardware, but to deploy technology that meaningfully supports drivers on the road.”
