Lexus India has confirmed that the next-generation Lexus ES will be launched in the country on March 20, 2026. The updated sedan will replace the current model sold in India and will continue to compete in the midsize luxury sedan segment.
2026 Lexus ES: Exterior design updates
The new ES introduces several design changes compared with the outgoing model. At the front, the sedan features Z-shaped lighting elements that integrate the daytime running lamps and indicators. The primary headlight units are positioned lower in the bumper.
The traditional spindle grille design has been replaced with a smaller air intake positioned at the lower section of the front bumper. Additional design elements include patterned inserts on the bumper and updated alloy wheel designs.
Along the sides, the ES gets a pronounced crease running across the body with gloss-black trim accents. The roofline slopes towards the rear, giving the sedan a different profile compared with the previous generation.
At the rear, the car features a full-width LED light bar with illuminated “LEXUS” lettering. Additional creases and chrome elements are positioned below the light bar.
Dimensionally, the new ES is 165mm longer, 55mm wider and around 110-115mm taller than the current model. The wheelbase has also increased by 80mm, which may contribute to additional cabin space.
2026 Lexus ES: Interior and features
Inside the cabin, the dashboard layout has been revised with fewer physical buttons. Many functions are now integrated into a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, which supports over-the-air software updates.
The steering wheel carries physical controls and features Lexus lettering instead of the traditional emblem.
Other features expected on the new ES include:
- 12.3-inch digital driver display
- Mark Levinson audio system
- Electrochromic panoramic glass roof
- Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
- Powered front seats with memory function
- Rear-seat reclining function and boss mode
Lexus has also stated that the model uses improved door sealing and higher sound-insulating glass for the front doors to reduce cabin noise.
2026 Lexus ES: Powertrain options
Globally, the ES is available with both hybrid and fully electric powertrains. For India, the sedan is expected to continue with strong hybrid powertrains, similar to the outgoing model. The ES300h and ES350h variants use a 2.5-litre petrol-hybrid system, though with different power outputs depending on the version. These variants are paired with an e-CVT transmission, with front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations offered in some markets.
Internationally, the ES lineup also includes electric versions such as the ES350e and ES550e. The ES350e uses a single-motor setup with a claimed range of 685km (CLTC), while the ES550e uses a dual-motor configuration with a claimed range of 610km (CLTC). It is not yet confirmed whether these EV variants will be introduced in India.
Market positioning
Once launched, the new-generation Lexus ES will continue to compete in the midsize luxury sedan segment alongside the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and BMW 3 Series in the Indian market.
