Toyota has announced plans to set up a new vehicle assembly plant in Maharashtra through its Indian subsidiary, Toyota Kirloskar Motor. The company said the facility will be located in the Bidkin Industrial Area and is expected to start production in the first half of 2029. The upcoming plant will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles and is expected to generate around 2,800 jobs.

Plant to Manufacture New SUV

According to the company, the new facility will produce a new SUV model. The manufacturing operations at the site will include stamping, welding, painting, and vehicle assembly. Toyota has not disclosed details about the investment amount or the specific SUV model that will be manufactured at the facility.

Focus on Domestic and Export Markets

The company stated that the new plant is being developed to strengthen its production operations in India and support future market demand. Vehicles produced at the Maharashtra facility are expected to cater to customers in India as well as nearby international markets, indicating an export focus for the upcoming SUV.

Existing Manufacturing Operations in India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor currently operates manufacturing facilities in Karnataka, where it produces vehicles for both domestic sales and exports. The new Maharashtra plant will add to the company’s existing production network in India.
