Skoda Auto has revealed the production-spec Epiq, which will become the brand’s smallest and most affordable electric SUV for global markets. The new EV brings a claimed driving range of up to 440 km along with a front-wheel-drive setup and Skoda’s latest design language.
The Epiq is based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ platform and is also the first Skoda EV to adopt a front-wheel-drive layout. Skoda says the architecture uses smaller and lighter battery packs. The SUV will be available with two battery pack options.
The range-topping Epiq 55 trim develops 211 hp and 290 Nm of torque. It uses a 55 kWh battery pack and offers a claimed range of around 440 km on a single charge. Other trims include the Epiq 35 with 116 hp and the Epiq 40 with 135 hp. Both versions offer a claimed range of around 310 km, while torque output stands at 267 Nm.
In terms of design, the Epiq gets slim T-shaped LED lighting elements along with a glossy black Tech-Deck Face. Inspired by the Vision 7S concept, the SUV also features vertical air intakes and a clean overall appearance. At the rear, the minimalist styling continues with T-shaped tail-lamps and uncluttered surfaces.
The compact SUV measures 4,171 mm in length and offers a 475-litre boot. Skoda also provides an additional 25-litre front storage compartment. Inside the cabin, the Epiq features a 13-inch Android-based infotainment system with features such as ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, heated seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control and a 10-speaker Canton audio system. Safety features include seven airbags as standard along with ADAS functions such as Front Assist, Lane Assist, Side Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.
The Epiq also supports one-pedal driving through its B mode and offers charging capability, allowing the battery to power external devices or feed electricity back to homes. Skoda has additionally confirmed a limited ‘First Edition’ variant, which will feature orange styling highlights, 20-inch wheels and the most powerful drivetrain setup.
