MG Motor India has launched a new variant of the Windsor EV in India, called the ‘Commute’. It is positioned below the existing base variant and is intended for commercial applications such as ride-hailing and fleet operations. The launch was announced in April 2026.
MG Windsor EV Commute Variant: Price and Positioning
The Windsor EV Commute is priced at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It is around Rs 60,800 lower than the base ‘Excite’ variant, which is priced at Rs 14.10 lakh. This pricing positions the Commute variant as an entry point in the Windsor EV lineup, with a focus on reducing upfront cost for commercial buyers.

Intended Use Case
The Commute variant is developed for high-usage scenarios. It is expected to be used by ride-hailing platforms such as Ola and Uber, along with corporate fleets and rental service providers. The variant prioritises space and practicality over additional features.
MG Windsor EV Commute Variant: Exterior Changes
The overall design remains similar to other Windsor EV variants. However, the Commute version includes some differences:
- 17-inch steel wheels in silver finish
- No wheel covers
- Basic exterior styling suited for fleet use
MG Windsor EV Commute Variant: Cabin and Utility
The interior layout is oriented towards passenger use and daily operations. Key elements include:
- Split folding rear seats
- Two adjustable rear headrests
- Rear AC vents
- Boot lamp
The vehicle offers a boot space of 604 litres, which can support luggage-heavy usage such as airport transfers and intercity travel.
MG Windsor EV Commute Variant: Powertrain Specifications
The mechanical configuration remains unchanged from other variants:
- Battery: 37.9 kWh
- Power: 134.1 bhp
- Torque: 200 Nm
- Drive type: Front-wheel drive
MG Windsor EV Commute Variant: Range
The Windsor EV Commute has a claimed range of 332 km under ARAI testing conditions. Real-world range is expected to be between 200 km and 250 km, depending on factors such as load, driving conditions and air conditioning usage.
