Mercedes-Benz has discontinued the A-Class Limousine, EQA, EQB and EQE SUV in India. These models have also been removed from the brand’s official website after the available inventory was sold out. The development comes ahead of the planned launch of the CLA-based electric vehicle in April 2026.
Shift Towards Higher-End Models
The company is now focusing more on higher-priced vehicles in its portfolio. According to earlier statements from Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer, the brand intends to prioritise value over volume instead of competing aggressively in the entry-level luxury segment.

In 2025, Mercedes-Benz reported a 23 percent decline in its entry-level segment sales. The company has chosen not to engage in price competition in this category, which is already under margin pressure.
Entry-Level Access Becomes Costlier
With the discontinuation of the A-Class Limousine, the entry point into the Mercedes-Benz range has moved higher. The Mercedes-Benz GLA is now the most affordable model in the lineup, with prices starting above Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming CLA-based electric model is expected to be priced in a similar range, which further limits lower-cost entry options for buyers.
Overview of Discontinued Models
The A-Class Limousine was introduced in India in 2021 and received an update in 2023. It remained on sale for around five years. The Mercedes-Benz EQB, launched in 2022, was the brand’s first three-row electric vehicle in India and remained available for over three years. The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV entered the market in 2023 as an electric alternative to the GLE and was sold for about two and a half years. The Mercedes-Benz EQA, positioned as the electric counterpart to the GLA, had a shorter lifecycle of under two years.
Future Plans for GLB
The earlier version of the GLB was discontinued in 2025. A second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLB is expected to return to India as a fully imported internal combustion model. The launch timeline has not been announced.
Electrik Speaks
Mercedes-Benz’s decision reflects a broader trend among premium automakers to reduce dependence on entry-level models and focus on higher-margin vehicles, even if it narrows the customer base.
