Ather Energy has indirectly confirmed that it is working on plans for future electric motorcycles. During the company’s Q4 FY26 earnings call held on May 4, 2026, CEO Tarun Mehta said motorcycles would require a separate architecture from the upcoming EL platform.

When asked whether the EL platform could support motorcycles, Mehta responded: “We’ll need a new platform. We call that the Zenith platform.” The statement marks the first public mention of the “Zenith” platform by the company.

EL Platform Focused On Scooters

During the earnings call, Ather discussed its upcoming EL platform in detail. The company said the new architecture is being developed mainly for the mass and mass-premium electric scooter segments.

According to Ather, the EL platform is expected to support multiple products and variants across different price points. The company also said EL-based products are planned for launch before the end of calendar year 2026. Ather stated that the platform has been designed with a focus on cost reduction, manufacturing efficiency and higher localisation. The company also confirmed that EL products will be produced at its upcoming Factory 3.0 facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Motorcycle Segment Under Evaluation

While Ather did not announce any launch timeline or product details related to motorcycles, the company acknowledged that electric motorcycles could become a larger category in the future. During the discussion, Mehta said the industry has not yet seen strong proof of scale in the electric motorcycle segment but added that manufacturers would expand into the category if customer demand increases.

The latest statement indicates that Ather may be preparing a separate product roadmap beyond scooters, although no official confirmation on upcoming motorcycle models has been provided yet.
